Job Summary


This position has a flexible work arrangement that may allow for Telework or a mixture of working in our office and Telework.

The position will conduct and lead assigned investigations of alleged employee misconduct and performance management. The investigations assigned will address compliance with DHS policy and procedures, federal and/or state statutes, regulations and rules.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct investigations as assigned and requested by HR leadership and HR business partners.
  • Coordinate with other investigators (internal and external) to conduct investigations, so that the integrity of DHS investigations are completed timely.
  • Develop and maintain investigations procedural documentation and participate in DHS and state-wide meetings, committees, and projects on investigations and investigation practices.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of professional-level experience conducting investigations within a civil rights, human resources or labor relations setting.

  • Demonstrated use of investigative interview techniques sufficient to collect information from witnesses and third-party sources;
  • Preparing complex investigative reports;
  • Identifying and gathering evidence from multiple sources; and
  • Developing investigative work plans and strategies.

***Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Management, Law or related field may substitute for 1 year of experience; Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Management, Juris Doctor (JD) or related field may substitute for 2 years of experience***

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Communication skills sufficient to explain sensitive, controversial decisions to employees and management staff in a clear and concise manner.
  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
