VA Montana Health Care System at Fort Harrison is a 43 bed, JCAHO accredited facility currently providing inpatient medical/surgical, and outpatient ambulatory medical, surgical and behavioral health care. We also have a new 24 bed inpatient unit for Behavioral Health Services for Montana veterans. The facility is located on 138 acres in a picturesque setting on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains, just on the outskirts of the stateÂ's capital city, Helena. The area is well known for a colorful history, cultural and educational offerings and any number of amazing recreational activities.

POSITION: Physician (VM-0602) - Chief, Ambulatory Care East - One Vacancy - Full-time, permanent position to include 0.5 FTEE administrative duties and 0.5 FTEE clinical duties. This position is located in Ambulatory Care East at the VA Montana Health Care System, which includes the following clinics: Billings Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Miles City Community Based Outpatient Clinic, and Glendive Community Based Outpatient Clinic. Hours of work: Monday through Friday. Travel is required throughout this area of Montana.

U.S. Citizenship

Full unrestricted Licensure and Board Certification required.

Must pass pre-employment examination.

DUTIES:
Seeking full-time board certified Internist or Family Practice physician for Chief, Ambulatory Care Central. The incumbent will perform duties in Administration as well as Primary Care. S/he serves as a primary care physician providing a full range of services to veterans including telemedicine duties, supervising clinics, and seeing patients in an outpatient setting.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
a. Citizenship. Citizen of the United States. (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.)

b. Education. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:

(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.

(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

(4) For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.

c. Licensure and Registration . Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.

d. Board Certification. Current board certification in an appropriate specialty or specialties or physician must possess comparable competence.
