Short for combined internal medicine and pediatrics, Med/Ped doctors (locum tenens)are physicians who are board certified ! in both internal medicine and pediatrics, allowing them to pra! ctice within both fields. While similar to family medicine in being a primary care oriented specialty, Med/Ped careers are marked by a bit more versatility, with many Med/Ped physicians caring for a wide spectrum of patients in private practice or academic medicine settings.
