Short for combined internal medicine and pediatrics, Med/Ped doctors (locum tenens)are physicians who are board certified in both internal medicine and pediat! rics, allowing them to practice within both fields. While simi! lar to family medicine in being a primary care oriented specialty, Med/Ped careers are marked by a bit more versatility, with many Med/Ped physicians caring for a wide spectrum of patients in private practice or academic medicine settings.
